video installation by Rob Dietz & Phyllis Chen. Built around a player toy piano, Phantom Fingerings includes a video projection of tiny ghost fingers playing along to a paper player piano roll which triggers the hammers of the toy piano. A tiny video projector on the top of the piano beams down onto the piano keys via a tiny mirror. The sound is processed with analog delay and reverb to enhance the ghostly quality of the piece.
Phantom Fingerings was installed at the UnCaged Toy Piano Festival on Dec. 4, 2015 at the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens, NY.
